Memorials and Tribute Gifts

Honor Someone Special With a Gift in Their Name

If you have a loved one who has been impacted by the Montana Community Foundation or any of the charities we serve, establishing a memorial or tribute gift is a meaningful way to honor them or celebrate a special occasion, such as a birthday, while supporting our mission. Your memorial or tribute gift will be a lasting tribute to your loved one and will make a difference long into the future.

An Example of How It Works

Father and son smilingWhen John's father passed away, John knew he wanted to do something that would establish a lasting legacy for him. He remembered that during his father's lifetime he was always praising his local community foundation for its tireless efforts to better his community. So John decided to make a gift to the local community foundation's endowment fund at MCF in his father's memory using appreciated securities. Not only will his father's legacy live on by providing enduring support for the local community foundation through their endowment at MCF, but John also received a federal income tax charitable deduction (because he itemizes his taxes) and eliminated capital gains tax on the securities.
